Creative Valentine's Day Date Ideas, Annual Festivals, Market Trends & More!

Blizzards and freezing temperatures aren’t the only things happening this month. You can look forward to some of NYC’s most anticipated annual events, like Restaurant Week and New York Fashion Week. Still looking for a way to celebrate mid-month with your Valentine? This city has no shortage of creative options.

Upcoming Events Around Town

New York Fashion Week (Feb 12 - 19)

For one week this month, the city will become even more fashion forward than usual. Models, designers, editors and buyers will take to Lincoln Center to watch designers from around the world present their new collections. If you can’t snag an invite to the showcases or parties and want a peek at the latest trends, you can live-stream many of the shows from the comfort of your home.

NYC Restaurant Week (Feb 16 - Mar 6)

Twice a year, hundreds of restaurants around town change up their menus to offer three-course meals at more affordable prices ($25 lunches, $38 dinners). It’s a great opportunity for hungry New Yorkers to try out new spots previously deemed out of budget. Reservations are now open, so start planning your February meals.

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (Feb 16-17)

See man’s best friend take to the stage at the 139th Annual Kennel Club Dog Show. The determined competitors will show off their skills in front of judges and spectators, fighting for the title of Best of Breed and Best in Show. Cheer on your favorites at the daytime sessions on the west side at Pier 92/94, and at the evening sessions at Madison Square Garden.

Noteworthy Dates

Instead of paying a steep price for cocktails, hop over to the other side of the bar and take a bartending class to improve your martini and Manhattan skills. Take a Tour of Brooklyn Brewery

If bartending isn't for you, head to Williamsburg to join fellow beer enthusiasts for a little history and a lot of beer. 79 North 11th Street, Brooklyn

Test Your Shuffleboard Skills

No need to fly to Florida—there's a shuffleboard mecca in Gowanus. Ten lanes, food trucks, cocktails in mason jars. The Royal Palms, 514 Union Street, Brooklyn.
